The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), the Office of Lifestyle Trade Promotion, in collaboration with the Thai Trade Center Seoul recently organized a trade mission to South Korea. Under the Thai furniture development project targeting hotels and restaurants in South Korea, the Host & Home project, brings together six leading Thai furniture brands -- Deesawat, I-Spa, Moonler Collection, Mobella, Performax, and Sonite to take part in this trade mission. Being mentored and given guidance by Italian experts, Thai furniture exporters has developing their products to answer the growing demands of the property, hotel and restaurant projects.
The trade mission aims to help Thai brands expand business connectivity and penetrate the Korean market. By choosing Korea Build 2019 as the introductory stage, Thai furniture producers were not only given golden opportunity to conduct trade negotiation and business deal, but the two booths space also set as products showcase to impress Korean buyers. The business matching activity was also held on 19 February 2019, one day ahead of the Korea Build 2019 kick off on 20-25 February 2019 at the Kintex.
Korea Build is celebrated as Korea's largest trade show on building material, furniture, architecture and home furnishing. Therefore, taking part in this grand event saw an impressive result where more than 30 Korean businessmen visiting the booths and showed their great interests in business deal. Among popular products were wood furniture of Deesawat and Moonler Collection. Meanwhile, Performax’s environmentally-friendly products that use woven materials also garnered warm welcome from visitors. Many traders also inquired on the elderly bath tub of I-Spa because of Korea’s expanding aging society.
The representatives of six brands expressed their high satisfactions for taking part in Korea Build 2019 trade mission. In brief, the activity helps broaden business opportunity as well as provides ample chance to meet face-to-face with real Korean buyers. It is expected that the one year orders will amount to more than 20 million Baht, or US$630,000.
Ms Vilasinee Nonsrichai, Minister Counsellor (Commercial), Thai Trade Center Seoul disclosed that: “The Korea Build trade show provides excellent opportunity for building materials, furniture, home furnishing products from Thailand. The show is organized three times a year, with the first and the largest one held at Kintex, second at Coex, and the third at Bexco which is located at South Korea’s second largest city, Busan. Thai manufacturers and exporters who wish to penetrate the ever expanding Korean market; should consider attending one of the three events.”
